Ramanand Sagar's Ramayana, playing Ram's role, Arun Govil has become 60 years old (January 12). Born in Meerut, Arun married to an Indian actress Shreekhela.
Arun became so famous with Ram's role that many times people would reach the set to take blessings from him during the shoot. He himself told this in an interview. Not only this, people used to offer floral wares as soon as the show started on TV. He never got any good work after Ramayana. People refused to think anything more than Ram. The result of this was that his acting career ended.
Arun Govil started his own production house after not getting success in acting. Their production house produces serials for Doordarshan.
Arun has also worked with films in TV serials. He made his debut in the film 'Paheli' (1977), 'Saavan Ko Aane Do' (1979), 'Judai' (1980), 'Itni si baat' (1981), 'Sasural' (1983), 'Mukabla' (1993) Kaboom (1993), 'Babul Pyare' (2014) and others.
